Carole Slattery is a retired elementary school librarian who worked for 27 years in the public schools of Newton, Massachusetts. During that time she developed many lessons to teach her students the content and structure of folklore. She has given workshops for teachers in the Boston area, spoken at international conferences, and published curriculum materials. This web site was developed in hopes of helping teachers and librarians approach the rich area of folklore in a structured and thoughtful manner. Everything recommended here has been done many times with many children. Besides the material on folklore, there are a couple of lessons about the art of picture books, which is often ignored by teachers and librarians.
